The Lone Damage

This painting shows a Deaf child’s brain on a school chair, where 3D puzzle pieces are missing. It means language deprivation. They are not getting full access to communication. This is why sign language is so important. Still today, some Deaf adults struggle with reading and writing, trying to express but communication is limited with frustrations and anger. Why is the school chair in the spotlight and the background black?
The chair represents comfort, knowing it is desperate and it allows anyone to sit on it. The spotlight represents attention and something is very wrong and needs attention, something must be done. The black background represents emptiness, not knowing where to go and is lost in the woods and it also represents abusive.
