For just being Deaf. The Deaf mother was overjoyed at the birth of her first child. Now she could not give her daughter a baby brother or sister. She was abused, ignored, silenced and excluded just for being Deaf. It took the mother nine years trying for a second baby before she discovered the horrifying truth. The painting shows a nurse clipping off a fallopian tube and one already on a plate. The Deaf mother is blindfolded, which means without knowing, holding her first born baby. The end table shows medical tools. Credited to World Federation of the Deaf. This painting is at Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester, New York.
