This painting is about language equality. The goal is to end the nationwide epidemic of language deprivation by promoting language equality, ASL and English, as a human right for Deaf babies to Deaf children in kindergarten. They have the rights to learn both languages and can be bilingual. This painting shows ASL (American Sign Language) on the left side and English on the right side, with a “bridge” signing “equality” to bring both languages together. The children underneath the bridge are “reinforcement” to keep the bridge standing strong. The signing above is “language.” Together comes Language Equality. This message is saying not to leave out one language for the better of other language. Affirmation category.
